Day 1 :

Arrival in Arles, one of the most important Roman cities of France, belonging to the World Heritage of UNESCO. Since, the city has kept alive this rich heritage with the theatre, the amphitheatre, the Roman baths and many other Roman remains. Arles still feels like a relic of the past… Guided walking tour of the town, from the quiet corners to the most renowned sites of the city, with your guide telling you all the secrets and stories of the city… Lunch. Drive towards the Pont du Gard, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, is set in an environment of rare beauty. Follow its adventures across time, from the Romans’ obsession with water to today’s concern for environmental preservation. Guided tour of the site, access to the museum tracing the history of the Roman aqueduct and possibility to walk on the Roman pipeline on the top of the 3rd floor of the monument. Drive back to Arles. Installation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 :

Breakfast. Departure towards the Camargue region and its regional natural reserve. Enter a “Manade” a traditional bull-breeding ranch, managed by guardian horsemen. Attend to a skilful demonstration of herd leading. Typical lunch. Head towards les Salins du Midi. Discover by train the oldest salt marshes of Mediterranean Sea, preserved area with characteristic flora and fauna. Drive to Aigues-Mortes for a self-guided tour. Optional commented boat cruise on the channels. In the heart of the marshlands, the city show an extraordinary heritage and remains one of the most beautiful sites in Provence. Back to Arles. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 :

Breakfast. Head to Port-de-Bouc and visit of a traditional canning factory : Provençal speciality  with strong sea taste, the “poutargue” (also called Mediterranean caviar) is made of dried mullet eggs. Guided tour of the laboratory, products presentation and tasting. Then, local wine sampling. Lunch. In the afternoon, guided tour of Martigues. Admire the Provençal Venice situated between sea and ponds, in the middle of canals. Panoramic tour in the 3 districts of the city : the ancient area, the fishing district with the half-island “Miroir aux Oiseaux”, the Madeleine Church. Back to Arles. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 :

Breakfast. Departure for the return back in your country.
