Day 1 :

Arrival from your country to Lyon. Greeting from your driver and transfer to a « Bouchon Lyonnais» restaurant for a first typical lunch. Then, departure for a guided panoramic city sightseeing tour of Lyon. Lyon’s historical town centre and is registered at UNESCO World Heritage since December 1998. See the city’s highlights: Fourviere and its so-called « praying hill » with the Notre-Dame basilica and admire the terrific panorama on the town, the Bellecour Square, the Terreaux Square with its remarkable Bartholdi fountain, the Rhone and Saone river quays and the Presqu’ile (half-island) district. Transfer to your hotel. Installation in your room. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2 :

Breakfast. Departure with your guide for the walking tour of the « Vieux Lyon », the medieval and Renaissance district of the town. Through 2000 years of History, start from St John’s cathedral and enjoy strolling around narrow streets passing from inner courtyards to the famous « traboules » (secret corridors between streets) and let yourself be charmed by secrets and fascinating stories… Then, continue to the « Halles Paul Bocuse », the covered market of Lyon. Discover all kinds of fresh local quality products. « Lyon style » sampling directly at merchants counters: fine colds cuts, varied cheeses, sweets with local wines. In the afternoon, guided tour of Croix Rousse district to visit the so-called « working hill » by following the footsteps of the « Canuts », silk weavers. Commented tour of the « Maison des Canuts »: explanations on the technical, social and creative prestige of the silk industry of Lyon since 5 centuries, with weaving demonstration on a Jacquard loom. Walk down the hill until town centre through the slopes and secret passageways. Finally, visit the « Atelier de Soierie » in order to understand the techniques of silk painting. Back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 3 :

Breakfast. Departure from your hotel for the guided tour of the modern district of Confluence, today one of the most fashionable area of the city: business center, shopping mall and leisure facilities. A successful reconversion with an ecofriendly avant-garde architecture (Orange Cube and Green Cube, head office of Euronews or apartments with glass front and roofs with solar panels or wooden structures). Lunch in a famous brasserie of Lyon. After lunch, guided tour of the Confluence Museum, new Natural History Museum of the city. Finish your day with a commented boat ride on the river Rhone and/or Saone to appreciate the city of Lyon from a different perspective. Transfer back to your hotel or, according to your schedule, to the train station or the airport.
